Hi all!
I came across this cool site when I was trying to google other students/graduates personal ideas regarding Ohio State University's nursing program. I finished one year at Cleveland State as an exploratory health major and recently switched my major to pre-nursing and am transferring to OSU for this coming fall. So I completed 4 nursing pre-reqs so far, biology, chemistry, psych and english. Half of those college credits were completed while in high school in a post-secondary enrollment program at CSU.
So I understand that OSU's nursing program is difficult to get into and I'm very worried about my situation and am looking for others who got into the program who didn't have a 4.0 gpa and can give me some hope. So my grades..
~As a senior in high school while enrolled at CSU, I got a B in chem.
~As a senior in high school while enrolled at CSU, I got an A in english.
~As a freshman a CSU, first semester, I got a C in Bio. (I probably could have done better but my father was putting me under a lot of pressure and I became very depressed and unmotivated)(sorry for the sob story but its true and thats why I'm transferring)
~As a freshman at CSU, second semester, I'm expecting to get a B in psych.
So with that being said, If i do really well in the rest of my pre-req's at OSU, which I promise to do, will I have a chance of getting into the program? Or is it a clear no go already?
Thank you guys so much for your time, reading and providing feedback. I appreciate it!

I went to Ohio State for my undergrad and I know the program is very, very difficult to get into. My mentor and friend was actually a member of the admissions committee for their programs (undergrad and grad) and he also said the same thing: very competitive.
I will let you know now that with a C in a heavy science class, will be looked down upon. I do not think you will even qualify if you get less than a B in your physio/anatomy classes (I think they almost require an A).
Good luck and get those grades!
Yes, i heard that as well. would it be looked down upon if I repeat that bio course? Because the bio i took at my current uni translated to a higher level bio at OSU, so if i take the lower level bio that counts towards nursing, and say get an A, would that help me? thank you so much for your response too!

I would definitely talk to the nursing counselors at OSU and ask what they would recommend on terms of retaking classes. I just graduated from OSU's undergraduate program and it definitely was very competitive to get into. I know people who had friends with 3.8gpas who were turned down. I know they consider other things besides grades, but grades definitely play a major factor in deciding who is accepted. Best of luck to you!!

Retake biology, and try to get A's in the rest of your prereqs. When I last checked, OSU requires a C, I believe, in every prereq. I heard the program was really competitive but I think you have a chance as long as you work hard in everything else. Good luck!
Which BIO did it transfer as?
