Hello everyone! I've finally figured out and accepted my spot in Mercy College of Nursing's Youngstown day program for Fall 2016! It's been a long road to figuring out what school I would go to but I've finally decided to return home and attend Mercy. I truly thought I would not end up here but it's the best financial decision for me and I really want to become a nurse to serve my hometown (Youngstown/Hubbard).

Anyways, I wanted to know if anyone has attended the day program here. How was your advisor? Are there any professors I should look out for? Where were your clinicals at (besides St. Elizabeth's)? Did anyone do Mercy's rn to bsn online program? How was it finding employment after passing the NCLEX? Any recommendations for books and other materials to save money?

How exciting for you. I will be starting the nursing program this fall at Mercy College in Toledo. I am so excited! I'll be doing the Associates and will finish my Bachelors after I pass my NCLEX as I am older and want to get working.

Thanks for commenting! I already have a bachelors from Ohio State so I'm jumping straight into my online rn-bsn at OU once I receive my associates. I wish more people would comment here so I could some brief info regarding the Youngstown campus.

Can you still be accepted to the program without the prerequisites being completed?

I came into the program with all the prereqs and additional courses required to graduate (lifespan psychology, microbiology, nutrition, etc) so your situation didn't apply to me.

However, I will say that it took forever for me to hear back from them on an acceptance (it was worse for some of my classmates ; some even got waitlisted but they're currently in the program now). I applied early in mid September and kept calling them and didn't receive my acceptance until mid January (which was early since some people didn't hear anything until April-June).

I think that you can be accepted if you're actively taking prereqs but probably only two and they probably won't want all the prereqs taking in the summer before you start.

I suggest calling as the admissions team is nice and honest.
