I know nothing about Medicare A, Medicare B, Medicaid, etc...as far as billing, how many days this person has, that person has, etc.
Does anyone have a simple way at looking at this? Something I can print off and keep by my side to help me understand all of this craziness?!
Thanks in advance...
BTW--yall have been great helping out....

Hi--you are in for a "real treat", if you look at things that way! :chuckle
This site--http://www.cms.hhs.gov/SNFPPS has links to Medicare A/PPS/CB information. The RAI Manual also has a very understandable overview, and teaches how the OBRA assessment schedule "meshes" with the PPS assessment schedule.
This site will link you to info on Medicare B--http://www.cms.hhs.gov/MedicareGenInfo/
This site will link you to info on Medicaid--http://www.cms.hhs.gov/home/medicaid.asp. But your state will have specifics about required documentation, coverage, levels, eligibility, etc.
This is a site with general MDS/RAI training-- http://www.mdstraining.org/upfront/u1.asp-- actually reading the RAI Manual will provide the same knowledge as internet study or AANAC, NRAI, or any other seminar training. We all learn differently, so you need to absorb knowledge however is best for you.
Unfortunately one can't become "smug" or overly pleased when/if certified and understand the difference between "limited" or "extensive" assistance, and can predict which of the 53 RUGs a client will "fall" into--because many changes are coming over the next months and years...which will change almost everything...
So tis an exciting endeavor, and will hold your interest, if you remain "cool" , and keep frustrations in check---share/learn with/from others, and "ignore the small things...and everything is small".:omy:
Good luck!!

What computer system do you have in the business office ? What MDS system do you have? Alot ofthese systems can help you also. You can read all you want to but I have found that by doing it over and over on paper and asking SOOOOO many questions I have figured it out for right here and now... this job is ever changing. I keep track of Medicare A census on one log sheet and mark it accordingly; I know what assessment pays for what and for how long. Hang in there and in a few years you will have it mastered.
