I have been offered a position in Med Surg and am wondering if $22.06 is the "going rate" for an RN (graduated 2002 1 yr in OR and 1 year in long term care) 3 years as LPN ?

Sounds about right. I was making only about 25.50 and I graduated in '96.

Thanks for your reply. Would you mind deleting the name and place of the hospital...I actually received a call advising not to mention it. Thanks

I actually used to work for Condell, although not as a nurse. From what I hear that hospital has such a bad reputation. They are trying to improve people's perception of it, but I don't know. I know that before I left they were in the middle of building a new section of the hospital. It didn't even look like a hospital on the outside, more like a museum - personally I thought it was sort of ridiculous. But I guess you have to give them credit for trying.

I think they pay fairly decently, but I will caution you of this: they have some kind of weird "customer service attitude" going on there. They even do fake patient visits and "spy" on their employees to make sure they are doing the job they are supposed to. It IS SO RIDICULOUS!!! I have worked at other hospitals and it is virtually unheard of elsewhere. But who knows maybe they won't bother you.

Take care.

I know I used to think the same way as you...(I didn't know about the customer thing) that's why I applied there. Since it's my first RN med surg position..I thought that I would break the ice with Condell, earn some experience and then move on to better. Was I surprised when I went for the interview. All of that mess of construction is now finished...You would not believe how beautiful the hospital now looks. I "job-shadowed" the other day and saw the differences in the employees, clientele and overall environment. Just take a look for yourself so you can get the bad taste out of your mouth. It really is a transformation. I mean it. Thanks for your reply

All the best to you

Keep us posted on how things go. I also kept hearing what a bad place it was to work then lately I've been hearing different. I was even told by an agency nurse that went there that they seem very appreciative of their staff. So keep us posted.

yes I will
