I apologise if this topic has been covered elsewhere, but i haven't found it..
i'm just curious as to the nursing/public opinion towards these new plans of Obama to shake up the health care system in the US. As a nurse in the UK, looking in from the outside, it would appear to me that changes would aim to benefit the less fortunate and those unable to afford private insurance...???
I have notcied adverts on this site clearly against these changes, but apart from them perhaps taking money away from some private insurers (do they own hospitals?), it seems like this could only be a good move for the american people?
now i freely admit i don't know too much about the topic, but am reading more and more about it would appear to be causing a pretty big rift throughout the states....????

Hi rusty...yeah, "big rift" is probably the understatement of the century. Check out Allnurses central--there's a lot more on politics there, and plenty of commentary from both perspectives. I myself am not in favor of the way in which our "representatives" in Washington have gone about this, but most (myself included) do agree that there are plenty of areas in which our hc system could be improved.
