Hey Everyone,
Any of you have physicians use both vacuum and forceps to delivery instead of one or the other and then going for a C-section? What do you all think of that?

I've seen docs use forceps to bring the baby down and vacuum to finish probably a half dozen times. I've seen unsuccessful vacuum attempts go to C/S quite a few times. Forceps are a dying art, but used properly, I like them better than the vacuum for a difficult lady partsl delivery. Those hematomas make me uncomfortable. Not to mention the poor kid.

I concur with the above except that I have seen clean vacuum deliveries and horrible forceps ones and vs versa.....
Oh, I hear you! I have seen too many not so great outcomes on both, but it is nice to see someone who really does know how to use forceps and watch the baby come down and out smoothly. I don't see the skill factor so much with the vacuum.
