Well, I promised to keep you all updated on me & my friend, the placenta. Had a little bit of a suprise last night in the form of some more bleeding. I know that the bleeding is usually sudden, but still I am just amazed because I was just laying there watching the Hunt for Red October with hubby, & all of a sudden I felt it. It just comes on so quickly, out of nowhere it seems. So anyway, another trip to the hospital ensued, & fortunately the bleeding wasn't too bad, stopped on it's own within about 90 minutes. I spent the night in the hospital again, & got a steroid shot this morning before they let me go home again.

On the lighter side, the doctor said that I could give myself the second injection in the morning since I'm a nurse, but I told him that I just don't think I can bring myself to poke that big needle into my own body, so I'll show my husband how to do it. My husband is going to give me my second shot tomorrow morning, & he is so excited about getting to poke me in the a** with a big needle. Too funny. I brought home an extra syringe & needle to make him practice on an orange before he practices on me. Scary, huh. . .

Everything looks ok for now though. I'll keep you all informed. Bye for now. . .

Hi Lou,

I loved your injection story! Aren't we such whimps when it comes to inflicting "treatment" on ourselves?

About 10 years ago, hubby and I were undergoing infertility treatments and had progressed to IM meds, which he flatly refused to inject. (He faints at the THOUGHT of a needle!) It was no problem, since I just took my meds to work with me and had a friend give me my shots. On my day off, I didn't want to drive all the way into work, so I invited my sister, the physician, over for dinner. After dessert, I handed her a syringe and asked her to inject me. She had a blank look on her face, and said she would do it, if I would tell her how. I thought she was joking, but to humor her, I went through all the steps: how to find the landmarks, insert the needle, aspirate, how fast to inject the meds, etc. I then received the most painful injection of my life. I lied and told her she did just fine.

The next day, my mom called and wanted to know how my bum was feeling. I told her it hurt like he**, and asked why she was asking. She said that my sister had called her after she got home, and told her that she didn't want to admit to me that she had NEVER given an IM injection, and didn't think it had gone too well. So much for medical education.

Anyway, the treatment was successful. We had a healthy baby girl. Apparently, my infertility was cured, as we had a second (oops) healthy preemie girl 3 years later.

I now swear by Depo Provera for contraception and have found the most awesome office nurse who can give an IM injection literally without me even feeling it! Too bad she wasn't around to teach my sister!

I wanted to send you my well-wishes too! I am almost 31 weeks pregnant and lucky to not have complications this time. With my last baby I was on bedrest for 3 months due to pre-term contractions.

Sorry to hear about all the shots...that really stinks.

Hi guys. Sorry I haven't responded in a couple of days. I haven't been feeling the best. Just getting really weak feeling & getting pretty depressed. Life has been very frustrating lately, you know? Thank you all for your warm wishes & prayers.
