My sister, a yoga teacher, is writing a book about yoga after pregnancy. She has asked me me to research and describe in minute detail (among other things) the events of labor and lady partsl birth, as well as the steps involved in a c-section. As a primary care adult NP, I feel generally out of my league and most unfamiliar with the surgical piece.

Does anyone know of a good reference text (or texts) which would include a high level of detail about such topics ?

Thank you so much for any assistance :-)

Greeetings,

Being that you are unfamilar with procedures of C-Section, forceps, suction and others. I would recommend a book that I have on my selve called "Childbirth and Obstetric Techniques" by Farook Al-Azzawi. It is not that costly (around 30 dollars American) for a text book and full of graphics/photos in color. The gold satandard for this type of information is the Williams Textbook called "Williams Obstetrics" it is very pricey about 100 dollars but very inclusive and written for the Medical professional.

I look forward to reading the book you are working on,

good luck! :p

Peace,

Jami

Another resource is Varney's Midwifery - it may target your answer a bit better.
