Oakland Community College Nursing insight

Good Morning,

I am hoping you all can help with some information on what should be expected when going through this program. My daughter was admitted last year but had a couple medical issues that postponed her start and will start in the fall or winter, has two young kids and we are trying to help her prepare for daycare, etc for them.

I also just found out I was accepted as well and will know my start date soon :).

Thank you.

I am about to graduate from that program. They have a mentorship program, where they pair new students with senior students to help them and answer their questions about what is to come.

What does the start look like as far as time commitments, etc? Daycare is going to be the challenge.

Well, theory is one day a week, usually for 3.5 hours. Lab is one day a week, also usually for 3.5 hours. Lab may be in Southfield or Waterford, its completely random where they send you. Some people got lab and theory on the same day, but I never did. You need to schedule some time to practice skills in the lab not during class time. When clinical kicks in, (I think after 5-7 weeks) it will be two days a week for 9 hours. So essentially it will be two half-days and two full days per week. Second year there is no more lab, so that helps.
