NYU Palliative NP Program

Published

I am thinking of applying to the Palliative Care NP program at NYU for the next year. Does anyone know anything about the program? All I know about the program is what is available on their website. Thanks! (First post!).

I don't know about the NYU program, but I would be very cautious about doing an NP program with that as your specialty....at least right now.

The reason is that not all states will recognize that certification.

I know someone who got a palliative NP in...I want to say Ohio, and when she moved to Oregon she found that it was not recognized -- she could only be recognized as a CNS.

I know for reimbursement purposes, FNP is often the safest way to go as it allows you the most flexibility for who you see. Following that with a palliative care post-masters certificate may make more sense.
