Ok fellow travelers, does anyone have any info on working at Nyack Hospital in Nyack New York? I am looking at an ICU position there and wanted some feedback, positive or negative. Thanks!

I might suggest that you inquire of the New York State Nurses Association which represents bargaining unit nurses at Nyack Hospital. I do recall that in the not too distant past Nurses at Nyack were out on strike for approximately four months because of working conditions, pay, etc. Nyack Hospital sent an ultimatum to the striking Nurses stating that they would be permanently replaced unless they returned to work by a specific date. The hospital employed strike-breaker nurses (scabs). My recollection of events was that it was a bitter struggle and that the hospital made no effort to resolve differences. Negotiations were ordered by NLRB or Federal Mediators.
Nyack Hospital is part of the Columbia Presbyterian (New York) system and Nurses from Columbia-Presbyterian also demonstrated in picketing at Nyack along with Hospital Professional & Allied Employees of New Jersey (AFL/AFT) as a show of support for the striking nurses.
Thanks for the info Salty1. That website was really informative. I did see that they had a strike in Dec 1999 to May 2000 due to staffing, mand.overtime, and low pay, but that was like 5 years ago. I have worked at hospitals who had went on strike and afterwards it wasn't so bad. Short staffing is why I am sure they use my company anyway since I work for On Assignment and they specialize in crisis staffing, which can be good or bad.LOL.
