I already applied for Spring 2010 day program! Have you got into the fall 2009 program and completed Nur 112, the first class? If you did, can you give me your experience about the class, the clinicals, teh exams and the professors? I keep hearing is frustrating but that doesn't help me at all because I know school in general is frustrating, especially if you are working, have kids, a home, husband to take care of....but I am a hardworker and I am mentally ready to give up my job if I do get in next year and I am ready to work. I have completed all my pre-reqs, even the other ones that are required for the evening progra, (even though I am going to the day program). WEll, I registered for Microbiology next year anyway, just in case if I don't get in. But if I do, I will take Microbiology in the summer. But my GPA is a 4.0. I got 4 As in all pre-reqs (Mat 104, AP 425, Psy 100 (I took this @ Baruch already/I have my bachelor's in business) and BMCC was cool enough (or I guess it's in their policy) to retake English 101 because I got a low grade in it.

Hi!
I just finished nursing 112 and to be honest its not that bad. It also depends which professor you decide to take, if you go in the morning or the afternoon. But both professors are tough and you do have to read alot. Just study and read the textbook and you will definitely be fine. I was very pleased with my semester because I was able to pull off getting 90's in the class, it is possible to get despite what everyone else may tell you. I have children and was able to get high grades and if you really put your mind to it you will do great. Congrats on getting in in advance because you will definitely get in with your 4.0 GPA. If you have anymore questions please feel free to ask!

I have applied to the BMCC Spring nusing program as well. I received three A's and one A-. Does anyone know when acceptance/nonacceptance letters are going out? Thanks!
Hi, those were the same grades I got and was accepted. You definitely will get in! I heard from other students that they start calling if you get in sometime after Christmas or first week in January. Usually you get a call if you get in and receive letters if you don't get in.
Thank you much. Hopefully I will receive a call. I have another question...if I do get in. I will be taking NUR 112, A&P II, and PSY 240 next semester. I also want to take EMC 100, the class that will qualify me to be an EMT. The EMT class is in the evening so there should not be any conflict. But it is about 4 hours of lecture and 10 hours of lab a week. On top of that, I will be working 20 hours a week. Do you think that will be too much to handle? I appreciate your opinion.
Hi, I took nur 112 and micro this semester and it was alot of work. I don't work but do have kids and it was overwhelming. I think if you can take psych in the summer that would be a better idea especially if you are taking an emt class. Is there any other options for your schedule?
Probably not a bad idea to take PSY 240 over the summer. The PSY 240 class I am signed up for is distance learning - I find the distant learning to be much more agreeable with my schedule. But if I can take PSY 240 over the summer (distant learning) I will probably do that. Not a bad idea at all.
My work schedule is somewhat flexible, but basically I will focus my time on class. I definitly want to get APII out of the way. Definitely going to be taking that along with NUR 112. PSY 240 is probably the best to take over the summer.
I think the EMT class is a great opportunity to work and earn money, and to get real world aka "street" experience under my belt.
You are right about the experience. You also get that from the clinical hospital you will work at so that's a great idea. I took sociology distant learning an I enjoyed it because like you said it is flexible to your schedule. The only thing was it was alot of papers to write. And in nursing 112 you have about 6 exams and alot of reading. If you can do the psych over the summer distant learning that is best and yeah just get a& p out of the way
Are you able to get a job at a hospital while you are in school? I've been wondering about this. Do you have any information about that?
Yeah I am sure you can get a job at a hospital if you are at school. Sometimes they even like hiring students who are interested in nursing because they know you have experience.
Great! I appreciate all of the advice. I will definitely write if I have any other questions...stay posted!
