I am new to Atlanta Ga and I am a nursing student trying to find work in a local hospital anywhere. It has nearly been impossible. What am I doing wrong . I have tried several training schools who are making all these promises, yes we can train you and find you a job. One had promise me a job working for the VA if I took my PCT certification there. I explained to them I was from FL and already completed my training to be a CNA in FL, according to the registry the only thing left was for me to put in my application and wait for the test date. I then told yes, but with a CNA liscense that would not be good enough to work in a hospital here in AtL GA I needed Pheblotomy, EKG and Wound Care which is everything included in there PCT program. They told me that I would pick these classes up excluding the CNA portion, but my first day of class they turned around and told me me no I had to take the CNA class here in GA all over again:no:. I did not worry at first because I was promised I would not have to pay anything out of my pocket that they was going to forward me to a county program that would cover the cost under Dept of Labor, and that they would get me job with the VA Hospital. Then halfway through the program I get called into the office to make a payment:argue:. After this I called the state board and was told no complete the application and sit for the CNA exam. I contacted the school and told them I was not paying any money to them and that I did not have to take my CNA course with them paying them another 650.00 extract.
Now my questions are this
1. How hard is it to find a job in a hospital here in Atlanta?
2. Will it help that I will have my CNA lic, and that I am a Nursing Student with some years of patient care experience?
Please reply, I have been following this dream for about a year first in FL and now here in GA. I am taking my pre req courses online at a school that transfers to GSU, Clayton, Kennsaw university nursing programs. So I hope they will transfer to the community colleges as well. I had a very bad experience in Florida, and had to come out of Nursing School to work there:crying2: but I am determined to make it through, so I want to find a job that has tution reimbursement that can help me with my schooling I can do the rest in student loans or step up payment arrangments. Please reply as soon as possible this is really breaking my heart.
Hello, I was hoping for some advice her. I did receive a PM from someone and I tried CHOA and they don't have any need for CNA according to the website anyway.
Is it possible to get a job in a hospital here in Atlanta or near the ATL area?
Please response I really could use the advice
