nursing student with expunged misdemeanor

U.S.A. Alabama

This is very disturbing and extremely embarrassing for me to write but i have to get it out in the open in order to continue my dream of being a nurse. I posted something like this before, but not on th Alabama forum. I am currently a vocational nursing student and active duty military member. My grades are very good top of my class. I went out one night before i started classes and I got drunk I know this not an excuse. I used one of the girls there debit card to get gas and she called the police. I now have a pending misdemeanor hanging over me, it hasn't gone to court yet and there is a chance that is will be expunged from my record. I wasn't arrested or anything like that. I admitted to authorities my wrongdoings and i am very regrettful for my bad judgement. After my military time is up in the next few months I will be coming back to my home stateof alabama to finish up my PN and go ahead to RN, but I want to honestly know if i should pursue another career, because i have dampened my moral charater. Is there anyone that has been ina similiar situation who can give me insight and numbers and contacts. Is there a a chance that I will be able toi sit for th NCLEX. If there is someone who wants to chat personally about this that is fine also. Please don't be too judgin of me, because that bad judgement call was not in my character. I just want to help people, especially geriatrics and AIDS patients be as comfortable in their last days as possible. Ia m not a mean person I just made a bad mistake.

Contact the AL board of nursing with your question and they will give you an answer. Good luck to you.
