I'm a new grad RN, BSN still desperately searching for a job. It's been 2 months since I got my license and since then I've attained my ACLS. Now I'm thinking of going back to my community college to use their free nursing lab to practice my skills. I am planning on making a checklist (or finding one online) and asking one of the nurses there if they could initial and sign off my checklist for each skill successfully practiced. I then plan on putting this in my portfolio to show potential employees that I have been keeping myself busy while job-hunting. Would this help at all? Or would they just scoff and shun me amish style? Would I appear to look too desperate?

I think it would show initiative and that you are a self starter, goal oriented... I don't think it could hurt at all and it would keep your skills up while you wait for a job
