nursing school essay

Hi! i need advice if anyone would like to read over my nursing school application and let me know what they think that would be great!

As with many other high school graduates, selecting a career path was not an easy decision. While still in high school, I took a class to become a Nurse's Aide. I had also developed an interest in cosmetology while in high school based on the satisfaction I felt when others sought me out to help them create attractive hair styles. I enjoyed contributing to their improved self-esteem. Helping people appealed to me.

I decided on a career in cosmetology and after 18 months training, graduated from Capitol School of Hairstyling. I worked diligently to learn my craft and develop a clientele. After devoting 4 years to the cosmetology field, I re-evaluated my options. I longed to make a more serious contribution to life, and my original nursing intention re-surfaced.

I took the leap of faith and quit my hair styling job and got a job working as a certified nursing assistant. I also got my medication aid certification and now work at the Nebraska Medical Center as a patient care technician.

Every day I learn new things which add to my experience. I feel that I am able to touch lives in a way I couldn't before and I am very grateful for the opportunity. I aspire to become a highly competent nurse and enroll in a good nursing college to further my education. Toward this goal, I am continuing to work on my prerequisites at Metropolitan Community College and plan to have them completed or nearing completion by January 2016.

There have been many experiences that have helped me solidify the fact that I want to become a nurse. It's an amazing feeling to affect people's lives in ways that one could never imagine. Every day I see patients fighting to overcome huge obstacles and I'm extremely grateful to work closely with them. The care giving process is extremely rewarding.

Selecting a good nursing college is essential. After examining local nursing schools, Clarkson was definitely my first choice. Their large curriculum offers many options for accomplishing long-term goals as well. My target aspiration is to one day pursue training as a Nurse Practitioner there.

Students who have attended Clarkson share extremely favorable reviews on their attendance there. My mother, a lifelong nurse, is in the final months of Clarkson's Nurse Practitioner program, and has nothing but highly favorable comments about her experience in the program.

Another contributing factor is the good experience I had while attending a campus visit. The staff is so friendly and considerate, I can see that they truly care about their students and how they are treated. They showed a strong interest in accepting me as a student. Following my visit, they called to see if I had additional questions or needed any assistance.

Everything was so personalized that it really made me feel special, and in the nursing field, making someone feel good is a priority. It is easy to see that Clarkson is committed to providing excellence to their students. For all these reasons, I have a strong desire to seek acceptance into the school, and through the studies offered there, achieve my heartfelt dreams and goals.

A career in nursing offers me a chance to bring value to my community, to apply my nursing knowledge to help in countries in need of medical efforts after devastating disasters, to have knowledge about my own health, to be allowed first hand to witness miracles, and to give me an expanded sense of appreciation for life. I am eager to start my journey into nursing and hope that I will be privileged enough to receive my education at Clarkson.
