Nursing path help

So I know the new grad in the ED thing has been hashed and rehashed several times, but after looking through several pages I still couldn't find what I was looking for. Hopefully I'm not wasting your time in re-posting the same old thing but here it goes anyway:

I've been a paramedic since 2006 and transferred into the hospital setting in 2009 when I started nursing school to become more familiar with the hospital routine and because the schedule was a little easier on me. My question is I hope to be finishing my ADN this coming May and wondered what the best route to the ED/Trauma center would be. It seemed pretty split on whether a new grad can keep up in the ER w/o med/surg experience, but I wondered if my medic experience would help me a bit with that learning curve.

I already carry ACLS, PALS, NRP, and ITLS (which I know I will need to change to the nursing trauma course) and have for 5 years now. I know I can handle keeping calm cause it's not my emergency, but I worry about the fact that I have not been able to work as a tech in the ED due to the schedule constraints of my classes. I'm in Pre-op/PACU now as a tech and love it, but the ER still beckons me.

Any and all advice would be much appreciated so I can start thinking about applications in the next few months when the new grad positions begin being posted. :)
