Nursing Jobs in Dothan, AL/ for-profit vs not for-profit

I am in my final semester of nursing school and I am planning on moving to Dothan, AL. I am hoping to get some input on the hospitals there. There are two hospitals: Flowers Hospital (for-profit) and Southeast Alabama Medical Center (not for-profit). I just have been told from many people that I should stay away from for-profit hospitals. I would love to hear from someone that knows about these two hospitals and has any advice for me. I have compared them both on the hospital compare website. Flowers seems to have much better scores and statistics. I like the idea of Flowers because they are a smaller hospital but I am just confused about how their profit status will affect job satisfaction. Any help, advice, or other information would be greatly appreciated.

The Medical Center is probably the better hospital, but it does have a lot of indigent patients. Flowers is still 100% paper charting.

Both hospitals have excellent care but a very different vibe. You will see the mission statement for Flowers to include "treating patients like family" and the staff all wear scrubs of their own choosing. Some nurses like that and others prefer the navy blue/white designation for RN's at SAMC with other staff in their assigned color scrubs. Just a different feel to each location.

As far as charting, Flowers does have computer charting in the ED and L & D but I do think the rest is paper charting. Pros n cons there as well.
