Nursing Job outlook / Schools to look into

U.S.A. Washington

Published

So it will be awhile as I have yet to start pre reqs, But I was curious as to the job outlook for RN in Washington State, Preferably Western, WA. According to the BOL growth looks good to like 2022 etc. But from those actually out and about what say you?

I'll be living possible on the other side of puget sound (Bremerton / Port orchard) Or even North Tacoma (Moving from Virginia in a few months) So I was wondering in that aspect.

As for Schools as in my area I've noticed that I'll either try to attend Olympic College or Tacoma Community College for nursing due to the area I'll be living in as stated above.. Going to UW isn't really a option as it would take anywheres from 45 minute to an hour commute to and from there (Depending on where I live) but Its still a option Im considering depending on work conditions / child care etc. I was told UW is recommended one of the best for nursing students.

But from yalls perspective what can you give me advice? I'll be WA state bound by the end of June and hopefully getting pre reqs started in the spring of 2017

Specializes in psychiatric nursing.

I don't know about other schools, but I was considering TCC as an option for me last year and I'm not sure you wanna bank on TCC. It's lottery based, so you'll need to be lucky to get in. I mean, you can increase your chances with good grades, etc, but definitely consider other schools too. There's also Pierce college for nursing and I don't think that one's lottery-based, but there wasn't much information I found about it. I ended up getting accepted to an entry-level master's of nursing program. If you get good grades and already have your bachelor's, I recommend that option.
