Hi Everyone,
This past week I have had two family members ask me what I am doing in this group.(My wife and mother). They asked me what such a small group of people can do to change the system. Well, I started to think that you might be experiencing the same kind of feed back. With that stated, let me tell you what I answered.
I started with a history lesson that explained the beginnings of the AFL-CIO. It didn't work to well. I was reminded of what happened to Jimmy Hoffa. So I tried to explain it another way. (God, I'm going to date myself again) I'm a singer as well as a nurse and one of my favorite performers is Barry Manilow. His song, "One Voice" says it all.
Just one voice, singing in the darkness
All it takes is one voice
Singing so they hear what's on your mind
And when you look around you'll find
There's more than one voice
Singing in the darkness
Joining with your one voice
Each and every note another octave
Hands are joined and fears unlocked
If only one voice
Would start out on its own
We need just one voice facing the unknown
And then that one voice would never be alone
It takes that one voice.
It takes that one voice
Just one voice singing out in the darkness
Shout it out and let it ring
Just one voice It takes that one voice
And everyone will sing
We are small but determined. For ourselves, our families and our patients, join us. We started as one voice and we are getting louder. Let us set the example and be that one voice singing in the darkness. Soon others will add their voices, to unlock our fears, show us that we are not alone, and to add light to that darkness. Join us at Hospitalhub.com.
