nursing interview-operating room

Published

Hi!

I recently had an interview in the operating room this week and am waiting to hear back but kind of confused.

So I applied, and three days later I was contacted for an interview which was scheduled a week later!

The meeting was with the hiring manager and another peer (the nurse educator was suppose to be there as well but got tied up at the other hospital site which the manager later explained in the interview). The hiring manager mentioned should would be writing notes down for interview duration for all candidates and apologized in advance if she wasn't looking up!

I was very nervous during the interview and an issue regarding a lack of floor experience was brought up. I had not put any floor experience on my resume as that was four years ago but put my three years of working in a private clinic and had recently finished my operating room course and clinical placement. I had mentioned that I had 6 months of floor experience when I graduated from nursing school but I had a great opportunity to receive training in the cosmetic field and have worked ever since for the past three years. When this issue was brought up I had given the nursing manager a skills assessment operating room form my clinical teacher had filled out which were all positive comments; the manager then asked for her number which I wasn't able to get beforehand but offered a list of references with other clinical instructors included the OR course professor .

A series of questions were asked which I think I answered fairly well, the manager then asked me if I had any questions, she answered my questions very thoroughly then discussed the workplace culture and about the position and what orientation involves and computer scheduling details, how everyone gets along etc. she asked me if I had any more questions in which case I said no. she asked me if I work full time and I said I didn't I currently work once a week I worked full- time for two years, then part- time, then got laid off for few months (which was the perfect opportunity to do my operating room placement full-time), now I work once a week. She also asked me where my address was as this position required a response on call time of 30 minutes and I live very close.

The manager wrapped up the interview, I gave a firm handshake thanking them for their time and she thanked me then escorted me out where we waved goodbye.

Ive always had a hiring manager always tell me the next hiring process or even mentioning start dates of if they will call references. The interview went from serious to more laid back and I noticed the manger and the other peer who was a bit serious at the beginning smiled more and made small talk talking about other things with me in the social context.LL

Later the same day I emailed the HR coordinator and asked for the emails of everyone present during the interview so I can send a thank you email. within 20 minutes I was given their emails by HR. Once I emailed the manager and the peer within 30 minutes I received a response from the hiring manager thanking me for writing the email and letting me know she forwarded the email to the other peer as there were two people by the same name within the hospital and I had sent the email to another person by the same name!

What do you think are these good or bad signs , I really want this job and can see myself working at this institutuion!!

Also, I believe I was the first person to get interviewed closing date for this job was about a week.
