Nursing Homes/Resident's Rights

:uhoh3: would like opinions on how many resident's rights you have seen, violated by the current way nursing homes are "run"

right to privacy
right to be safe in their rooms, and not have male residnents, confused or with alzheimers, coming into their rooms, and trying to get into bed with them.
right not to be "hauled" out of bed, at 4 or 5 am. (just to make it easier for the day shift)
right, not to have a confulsed/alzheimer's resident going through their belongings, taking them, or depositing them in the trash, or someone else's room. (dentures, especially!)
right not to wake up in the night, and find a confused/disturbed resident standing over them, with a pillow in their hand
right not to have to share their rooms with these type of residents.

these rights, are not written down, or followed, but i feel that they should be. it just seems to be such an in-humane way to have to live. i, for one, do not want to have to live under those conditions, and believe me, i have seen it all over the years, and a lot more! there isn't enough room, to list all the things i have seen.

in the present set-up of nursing homes, residents are just "warehoused" they have part of a room, a bed, dresser, closet, a chair. no room to put favorite photographs, momentos, or a few pieces of favorite furniture, ect. after a lifetime of working hard, raising a family, and being independent, they are reduced to having almost nothing

i feel they should be able to have a private room, where they can have privacy, and a little control over their surroundings. not to mention, being treated with more respect for their age, and what they have gone through in their lives, and their accomplishments.where is the "respect for our elders?" to me, it seems to be non-existant in present day nursing homes.

i would like to know if others agree with my opinion, or am i just being a nieve idiot?
