nursing help

I've been wanting to be a nurse in NY for a long time. I previously went to QBCC and was doing well mostly As and Bs but wasn't accepted into the nursing program due to not enough seats. I got very discouraged and my grades after that suffered. My GPA is now at about a 2.7 and I haven't been in school for many years. I became a Medical Assistant and am now a NYS EMT but still want to be a nurse. Any guidance in how to go about this, what schools should I attend, and any programs that will accept me will be appreciated. I've been so discouraged with the whole nursing idea but don't want to give up.
