nursing career questions

Published

hi all,

i am begining my journey on a career, for 2 years now i have attempted to go back to school majoring in the medical field, as i have been a secretary for 2 years in a hospital (well aware this isnt where i want to be-behind a desk). i have researched radiology tech, sonography, and rn. i would like some insight from new and experienced nurses on what i should expect. i work full time and have a 6 year old so im sure that alone will be very challenging. i enjoy helping people in anyway i can. as i stated earlier i am a secretary in a hospital and we receive many complaints from patients on nurses-which lets me know their jobs are extremly challenging dealing with many difficult patients and their personalities. i would like to know which field would be more promising/intresting/less stressful/a little easier, and with flexible schedules. between the three are the college courses similar. would i be able to work full time and go to school. science/biology isn't my strongest point however i am willing to focus and study harder. are there any programs that you could recommend in the raleigh/durham (nc) area? i am a bit impatient and would love to just jump in and complete the program however there are waiting lists everywhere here in the medical field. any advice on a good starting point?

thanks,

ncsecretary
