If money is the goal...

Nurses Career Support

Published

I currently work in a jail as the charge nurse. It is somewhat boring and I feel like I am losing the skills I learned in school 3 years ago. But because of my education and not being able to work, I have incurred a bunch of school-related debt and I'm SICK of it. I need to find a job that pays significantly more.

I do not fear non-traditional Nursing Jobs, in fact I favor them. That being said I am looking for a job/career in a nursing position that makes very good money. I have a basic associate's degree and RN license in my state. Can anyone suggest jobs or positions or companies that pay well. At this point I don't care what it is, I need to dig myself out of debt.

And no, I do not qualify for debt forgiveness.

Thanks!

What other skills do you have besides basic nursing stuff?

I have administrative and leadership skills in the jail / corrections environment; I don't imagine I could go to a hospital and be considered for any kind of admin job. I am really good with computers, I have a degree in drafting, lol.

Have you considered getting into hospital equipment design, sales, or product support? In sales, especially, the money would likely be outstanding (if you've got a decent product line and you're any good at it).

The money in management's generally pretty good but you're likely to need a Master's degree of some sort.
