is it nurse's week?

  • Guides

I saw an old coworker of mine post "happy nurses week!", on Facebook, addressed to other former coworkers. I'm just interested to see if my company even bothers to acknowledge nurses week. I like my current job but I don't like how we nurses are treated there.

Stuff going on every day this week at work to honor nurses, including a catered lunch for night shift one day this week. We are also all getting a gift, don't know what it is yet

Niiiiice! Wish I worked at your hospital ?

For the first time: a banquet at a local 4 star hotel, with awards, door prizes, an insulated lunch bag with the company logo and a wallet that protects cards from being scanned and a "kudos" bar in it, wine/beer free at the bar, and a DJ to run some dance music after. Was really good roast beef, and a pasta bar! You and a guest.

Wow! Even nicer!

I don't NEED anything from my employer.

I plan to enjoy a few days off and pamper myself for Nurses' Week...because I can... :nurse:

This morning we received breakfast burritos from one particular department. I have a feeling goodies will be rolling in all week. :)

It's like Chanukah!

They have lots of things planned for us. None of which any of the staff nurses will be able to attend. But management will all be there congratulating themselves on being such caring administrators.

My hospital's FB page has kudos to different departments and their nurses. We are also having a luncheon. I don't want any gifts.

My other job is catering a breakfast - and I usually get a plant.

I'm on maternity leave, so I don't know what my employer is doing for Nurse's Week. In the past, we have gotten cards and small gifts, like bowls, beach towels, and lunch bags.

We always get a few treats. I'm also an ER nurse so we get two weeks a year, but I'd rather get a damn raise and more staffing than some cupcakes and a blanket.

I've got a pretty good job I like to do that pays pretty well. As far as I'm concerned, every day is nurse's day.

So far we've never gotten gifts, but there are food events planned each day this week. They do a raffle as well so some people win things but the rest of us just get free food. Oh, and we usually get a potted plant/flower too. We have a new clinical director this year, so not sure if that will change things.

I haven't gotten anything for nurse's in YEARS. Once a year the whole hospital gets cake and ice cream; that is, IF you can leave your department to go get it.

I'm glad to hear someone else express that sentiment. ? Sometimes I feel very alone in my feelings of general contentment when I come here.
