is it nurse's week?

  • Guides

I saw an old coworker of mine post "happy nurses week!", on Facebook, addressed to other former coworkers. I'm just interested to see if my company even bothers to acknowledge nurses week. I like my current job but I don't like how we nurses are treated there.

Thought it was next week. Flo's birthday is the 12th.

May 6-12 each year, starting with different days each year but always the same date ?

well - dayshift has their cutsie activities like wear bows in your hair and crazy sock day .

One has to wonder if other professions' "yay us" Day includes bows in their hair and silly socks? Nothing like furthering our image, I always say.... :sarcastic:

The health system I work for is currently going live at one last location during this week and next so they will delay nurses week celebrations until the week of 5/19. I am not sure what will be planned but as usual the fun activities will be day shift only.

I got something like this from my son's school too. On Monday they were wearing super hero capes at school. I know on Friday I think they want the kids to bring a single flower for the teacher. I thought it was kind of strange.

One of the local coffee places was advertising last year that if you are a teacher you can get a free cup of coffee. Hey what about us nurses LOL?

I am not working most of the week. Best nurses week so far

This year Nurses' Week coincides with our Joint Commission survey. So much for Chanukah! Everyone has promptly forgotten about Nurses' Week in their mad scramble to make everything pretty.

LOL us too! They did wish the hospital reps a happy nurse's day though. How thoughtful of them!

But in our breakroom is a flyer advertising a FREE CINNABON!! Show your work ID at participating Cinnabon stores and get one free!! :woot: I'm not sure if this is a national thing or if it's just in my area, but you should all check.

It's definitely nationwide! ?

Well, right now I love my patients and I love what I do so much that it doesn't bother me that much, my company not acknowledging nurses week. I've just worked for companies that have done so much more for this week. Funny though that they were all jobs that I enjoyed much less than the one I have now.

We got a cookie, milk, and a multicolored pen. I felt more like a school girl than a grown nurse.....but I was happy they showed appreciation. I truly like my job.

Mani/pedi set, and aromatherapy antibacterial scrub (my favorite)

There was even food left!
