Nurses in France

Hi,

My first post and I put it in the wrong section - a kindly person pointed me in your direction.

Here goes:

I've actually got a relatively simple question that I'm having a problem finding an answer to - in France on the nurses registration site it gives lists of all registered nurses. Next to the name it gives a location. Is that location of where the nurse lives or is currently working?

I've emailed the registration bureau a couple of times but got no response. Looking for am English speaking nurse in my region to do some home care but, obviously, I need to make sure the nurses are actually in my region and not simply already working there.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

What is the website you are referring to? I speak French, so I may be able to help.

Hello and thanks!

This is the website Ordre National des Infirmiers - Portail National de l'ONI but on the section where you look at individual registered nurses it doesn't say if the location is residential or for work. (I dont' think!)

Hello,

I sorted it - the nurses registration is related to the region they work in not the region they reside in. Which helps me not a jot but at least I know now!

Thanks for your help.

You should be aware that registration with the Ordre des Infirmiers is not mandatory in France; in fact, the Order is very controversial and many feel that this organisation does not have nurses' interests at heart. So you will not find an exhaustive list of all nurses in your region on their site. The only place which has a full list of nurses in France is probably the HAS (Haute Autorité de Santé) and the ARS (Autorité Régionale de Santé) and I doubt they have those lists up somewhere for perusal. Best of luck finding what you were looking for, though !
