I am currently in a RN program and was planning to get my MSN.
I want to know if anyone has decided after getting your BSN, you decided to get a masters in something other than nursing. If so what? I'm not 100% sure I want to stay a nurse and want to know what other options there are. (i've tried researching, but every time I google rn with masters in something else, all I get are MSN programs). I still want to be in the health or biology type field (sports medicine, athletic training , biomechanics, etc...) But really would like my RN to count for something.
Or can I use a MSN degree to work in a sports medicine type field?

Can you give some more details on what you see yourself doing in a sports-medicine related field? With the MSN, you could go for FNP and work in sports medicine. If you are more interested in biomedical research or taking your career in a completely different direction, an MS in kinesiology or exercise science may be more what you are looking for.
Thanks for the reply. I do want to do the FNP and work in sports medicine, but when I research it, I get conflicting ideas of what exactly I need to do to get into it.
I saw on a different post on allnurses about a resdiency program through UNC's FNP program. Is that the only way to go? Are there any other schools out there that have a FNP with a specialty in Sports medicine? If not, can I get a FNP family practice specialty and get a certificate for sports medicine?
