Nurse practitioner questions

Published

I could really use the help for one of my classes. These are questions to be answered by a nurse practitioner...does not have to be complete sentences...I am trying to gather information on the NP role.

  1. What nursing theory / model does the APN use to guide her/his practice?
  2. What types of collaboration are used in the APN's practice?
  3. Does the APN provide consultation in her/his practice? Does she/he use consultants?
  4. What information and health care technology does the APN use in her/his practice?
  5. How does the APN utilize research for evidence based practice?
  6. What methods are used to evaluate the individual's advanced nursing practice?
  7. Discuss with the APN, her/his first year of transition into the APN role. What strategies did the APN find useful in her/his transition? Were some strategies not useful? As a guideline consider the role concepts (stress, strain, ambiguity, incongruity, conflict) and the transition stages in the first year of primary care practice (laying the foundation, launching, meeting the challenge, broadening the perspective).
  8. Does the APN have hospital privileges? If yes, what was the process for obtaining these privileges? What facilitated and/or hindered the process?
  9. In what professional organizations is the APN a member and how is she/he involved?
  10. What professional journals does the individual read?
  11. What other methods for continuing education does she/he use?
