Ok, so this is not the nurse Jane story, because for goodness sake's I am not a saint. But the "joys" of small town living do mean that sooner or later you will be likely faced with providing care for those who may have been less than good to you.
When I was a young thing just 17 and out of high school I got my first "real job" at local establishment. The boss was a bit of an a@@ and a drunk. I worked there all summer and he was full of degrading remarks, but one morning I came in and he was still toasted from the night before, He made some sexual comment about my legs (now it would be a compliment, but as a 17 year old young and innocent thing it was definetely sexual harrasement) both in fear and anger I walked out of that job. Left this small town, went to college, loss the innocence, etc, etc. Then 35 years later returned to small town to care for aging parent, working at hospital in an "aide" type position.
The former boss was a frequent "customer" of the hospital...and his personality was still not pleasant, I tried to stay away from him, cause I was never really sure how well I was going to do at turning the other cheek...and admittedly I wondered if as a nursing student I was assigned to care for him...what would I do...But the last time he was in the hospital before he died, I was able to bring him a warm blanket, and pat him on the shoulder...I guess I learned I can turn the other cheek.
I bet there are other "real" nurse Jane stories out there, lets hear em...after all it's an anyonomous forum so it's not like tooting your own horn.
