Nurse externship from Palomar pomerado

Nurses New Nurse

Hi ,

does anybody knows anything about palomar pomerado health, escondido california nurse externship program.

Do they pay good and if I get hired there, will it be easy for me to enter their new grad residency program.

I am a BSN student graduating in august and am a good student with good GPA and some background of healthcare fair activities and a volunteer in local hospital. I am single and am ready to relocate from LA to san diego

I am also concerned if I do not have any hospital related work experience except my clinical roation and volunteer work, will it become my reason of not being selected for nurse externship.

The hospital informed that I have all the requirements met for nurse externship and soon they'll be calling me for an interview.

I am little confused :uhoh3:

Hi! I was just wondering if you were able to get this externship? If so, would you be able to pass along any good information for anybody looking to get this type of internship? I am a BSN student graduating May 2011 and although I know that's far away, I really want to get some experience other than clinicals. Do you know when you were eligible to apply for that externship? Thank you for any information, I'm sure your busy since you graduated awhile ago, but I appreciate any info.

I am a nursing student in San Diego. We keep hearing that externships are really competitive right now. I imagine they'll pick up for pph in 2012 because they are building a huge new hospital. Good luck!

I am doing a clinical rotation at PPH right now. As far as I know they are not doing any paid externships again this year. I talked to a new hire and they only hired 9 new grads for both hospital and they all came from this area's schools only - Palomar College, CSUSM, and SD State, and one other local school I can't remember. A lot of people in my class are nervous because the job market is very tough down her in San Diego for new grads, you would be better off to get a new grad program with a hospital your school has done rotations with work for a year and then transfer as an experienced RN. We are thinking of applying more north for just this reason of a tight job market in our area. There may-be a nursing shortage but we have yet to really see it in San Diego.
