Nurse Candidate Program

Hi everyone!!! I just had a real quick question. I'm planning on applying for the Navy's Nurse Candidate Program. But I was wondering if I am accepted to the program, will I still be able to have the Navy put me through graduate school? I would like to eventually become an adult Nurse practioner or a Clinical Nurse Specialist. Does any one know how that will work out?

I am in the Army NCP and I assume you're getting the stipend and the bonus. You should still have no problem going to grad school as I understand the program. The grad school will only add more years of service. As to when you can go to grad school, I believe you can go when ever, but that Im not sure how soon, that's a good question.

Coming in via the NCP will not negate you ability to go to DUINS (grad school). I believe you will have to finish your initial obligation first before you apply to get the DUINS program. Last time I checked you need to complete at least your first assignment (3 years) before you can apply for DUINS. Also, DUINS is not guaranteed, you have to apply and compete to get selected for it, everyone doesn't just get the opportunity. I applied and got it, my wife is applying this year.
