Nurse anesthetist in washington

Hey everyone, I live in Washington and was wondering if anyone can give me any heads up or other information about schools in Washington that offer nurse anesthetist. How many schools in Washington offer nurse anesthetist programs and which ones? Who competitive is it? Are there any jobs in Washington for nurse anesthetist? Any info about nurse anesthetist and Washington would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Look up www.aana.com for a list of schools available in WA (there's only one. Go Zags!) and every other state for that matter. Also, look up www.gaswork.com as a good starting point for available jobs in WA.

Gonzaga University in Spokane has a wonderful school. The students do not compete with residents, do a wide variety of cases, tons of regional anesthesia. There classes are small and they get a lot of individual attention from the faculty.

There are a lot of outstanding CRNAs in the State of Washington, including the most recent AANA president, Frank Mazuriaski. Lots of private practice opportunities and group settings.

Hey WA male nurse, ("not many men in that profession is there?") Anyway, I just had an email exchange with the director of that program and she was very helpful. The application deadline for the class starting in Jan 2007 is December 1 of this year.

The average successful applicant has at least four years ICU experience under their belt. She said the program is very competitive so anything that helps you, like grades, leadership positions etc. is a plus.The director is very helpful so send her an email. Last year they interviewed 50 applicants for 8 slots.

I will be looking at other schools because I only have 18 months ICU experience and I don't want to wait. I'm 45 now and will be old enough when I finish even if I got into school tomorrow!

I made a small error in the above post. They interviewed 33 of the 50 qualified applicants, let in 8. She didn't say how many applications were received altogether.

But while I'm on the subject, it seems to me that there are a lot of us with the intention of applying to several different schools. That has to inflate the numbers a little doesn't it? And making it onto an alternate list is really pretty promising given that several of those students may accept places at another school that they applied to.

I take the GRE on Sept 13 and go to ACLS at the end of Sept. I will be applying to four schools this Fall for a spot in Fall of '06.
