Hello all
I need some help!!
I am currently working full time paying the bills like every one out there. I have been thinking about going back to school for nursing, but I am not sure where to even begin. How to start .... I have all these things on my mind that seems to hold me back from pursuing a career as a nurse - one them is would i be able to afford to pay the rent /bills and go back to school. and the other is where do i go or whats the best way to go about doing it. I am so lost - I live in Toronto If any one can give some much needed advise i would greatly appreciate it.. xo xo

I am not Canadian so I can't give you advice as to where. When I did nursing school, I also had to pay bills and work so I took a weekend position as a CNA... it paid more because it was on weekends and it freed up the weekdays so I could do school and clinicals. It worked for me.
You have to sit down and get rid of all unnecessary bills and extras you currently pay for and determine exactly how much money you need to live. Then see what you can do about a job. Loans can help immensely. I had federal and private loans to help me because sometimes even with working, ends did not meet.
You also have a lot of pre reqs that need to be done before you can even apply to nursing school, and these can be done a lot of the times, online or evenings. Look for nursing schools that may offer programs on the weekends. There are some masters programs here in the states that have weekend options and part time options.
Clinicals are going to be the biggest hurdle because usually they are done during the week during normal hours, so you would have to be able to free up time for that.
Just start researching! Usually most nurses had to work through nursing school so it can be done! Good Luck!
