I currently work at a hospital and based on my circumstances, I have decided to take the LPN route first and then bridge into the RN program at my school. I start my clinicals in January of 2014 and I am torn as far as work. I currently work in a call-center for the hospital and my boss has agreed to allow me to work when I can during the week ( I'm thinking 16 hrs max a week) . Unfortunately I do not have the circumstances that would allow me not to work in nursing school. At the same time, I would like to have a position that would provide me with nursing experience. There are positions open in the ER for tech's but I'm not familiar with the managers in that department and one of the requirements is for the applicant to be a current RN student in clinicals. Once I graduate as an LPN, I will have 6 classes left before I can apply for the LPN-RN bridge program so I am hoping that they would still consider me, especially since I am an internal candidate. I am determined to eventually become an RN, I have maintained a 4.0 GPA thus far despite working full-time and being married.I am hoping that things work out for me financially so that I do not have to work more than 10 hours a week. Please advise! Should I apply for an ED tech position or stick to my current job part-time?
