Not sure what to do about my dog

So I'll be moving to complete my BSN and the program will be around 16-18 months long ish. I have a 7 1/2 year old German Shepherd that is very attached to me, though she's lived with me and my mother since she was a puppy. I'm hearing a lot of different opinions about bringing her with me or leaving her with my mother... For one thing I'll be super busy with school, clinicals, etc and I'm having difficulty finding a place that would allow her breed. The thing is, if I leave her with my mother she wouldn't be getting much attention either, and would probably just be home all the time bored out of her mind, and I'm afraid she'll grow very depressed without my presence. Not sure what to do here... Any thoughts?

Any way you can get another small dog or otherwise to keep your dog company. That way your mom won't have to give too much attention and maybe offlay the attention while you're not there.
