So I'm looking into the practical nursing program at NWTI in Springdale, AR & I called the school to inquire about the program & ask questions but I was told that they are going through staff changes & they couldn't give me any answers to questions I had regarding the program.
If anyone is in or previously attended the PN program, can you give me any info about it? I'd like to know...
• Is the program fairly easy to get accepted into? Yes, I know most PN programs are competitive but I have good compass scores.
• Their site doesn't make information regarding their pre-reqs clear. Do you have to take the pre-reqs before you can apply for the PN program or are the pre-reqs apart of the 18 month curriculum?
Yes I'm aware that most schools require pre-reqs to be taken before you can apply but it never says on their site or handbook that they have to be taken prior & the pre-reqs are not listed as part of their "admission requirements".
• Are the Compass & Wonderlic the only pre-entrance exams or do you have to take the Teas V in addition to the compass & wonderlic? Again, their site & handbook doesn't make this clear
• Are there resources at the school to help students bring their grade up, should they be struggling in a particular course? This is something I have to consider because technical schools do not usually offer tutoring.
• If a student is not meeting the minimun grade required in a sudject, what is the schools process regarding this matter? Counseling? Meeting with the teacher? Retaking exam that student scored lowest in?
• If a student completes most of the program & they are terminated because they failed a course, does the student receive full credit for courses paid/passed while they were in the program or does the school require you to start at the begining of the program all over again (meaning you have to retake courses you already passed)?
• How did you like the school / PN program / staff & is there any info you would like to add?
Its amazing that this school is known for having a 99% pass rate but so little is known about the PN program. I can't even find any online posts about it except for 1.
