I am a senior at University of Illinois with a degree in biochem and recently had a calling to work in the nursing field. I've done a ton of research and looked at dozens of schools.
1. Would you suggest getting my BSN/sitting for RN program or go for the Accelerated MSN option that allowed non-RN students sit to complete the NCLEX and earn an MSN? The later of the two programs are few and far between but they do exist.
2. What is the benefit of a college vs hospital based program? Any preference?
3. How long is it considered adequate before choosing a specialty (if possible)?
Any other advice to a non-nursing degree student?
I am located in central Illinois and am looking at Chicago, St Louis, and possible Peoria/Springfield area. Any suggestions on colleges/hospitals/programs?
