No new grad jobs in Denver

Published

I think I am beating a dead horse but.... How do you get a new grad job here in Denver? I just moved here after finishing my nursing degree. I passed my NCLEX first try. Now the hard part - finding a job in Denver. My wife got a great job here so leaving really is not an option. At least for her. I have considered moving back home to get a job just to get experience. Of course if I did that I would not see my wife or my 2 little girls for long periods of time. I know the economy is in the dumps and all of that. What I don't understand is why are some hospitals not hiring any new grads. If there really is a "massive nursing shortage" comming aren't they doing themselves a diservice. I am sure some new grads will go and find a non nursing job eventually and never do nursing. So this just contributes to the problem down the road and is very short sighted. I am starting to think I wasted my time in school. Even the nursing homes here want experience. Most places just won't give you a chance. I went to BUDS in the Navy(didn't make it through). It was easier getting into that than a nursing job. I am tired of the pitty party too. I just want to work. I can't even get a volunteer job interview it seems. Any suggestions????
