NLN-PAX RN for SUNY Farmingdale

Published

Hello All,

I just took my NLN Pre-entrance exam today. I scored a 146 which I believe puts me in the 98th percentile. I also have a GPA of 3.97 and ever since last May, I have been dedicating all of my time to studying so that I would get into Farmingdale's BSN program. I'm uneasy about my exam score. Could anyone please post their scores and if they got into Farmingdale? If my grade isn't good enough, I need to start applying to other schools before I get too old! Thank you all so much for your time.

Hello, I am currently going into my senior year at Farmingdale and can shed some light for you! First off, the entrance exam is only used as a comparision to other applicants. You got a 146, which is a great score, but if everyone who took the exam also got a 146 or higher, it would be a less than ideal situation compared to if everyone who took the exam at Farmingdale got a 120 or less. When I applied I received a 151 on the test, and from what I've heard, everyone else who got in that year got around a 120, but that was just the year that I got in. There is really no reason to make yourself crazy because there is really no way to tell how you scored in comparision to everyone else in your applicant pool. Your grades are high, your entrance exam score is competetive so you should rest assured that you have a more than fair shot at getting in. Some of the best advice I was given was to apply to more than one school (I ended up applying to Farmingdale the LAST DAY of the application deadline!) I ended up liking Farmingdale much more than any of the other schools (and this included an acceptance to Nassau, Suffolk, Molloy AND Stonybrook) and chose Farmingdale as the right fit for me. You should really apply elsewhere just because you may find another program better suited for your needs in the long run, and its a nice cushion. I would honestly say you have a great chance of getting in! Just wait and see!

This was really helpful. Thank you so much. I have a couple of schools as back ups so we'll see (this is for spring). I guess I'm not really a fan of the waiting game but it's all part of the process. Best of luck to you in your senior year and if all goes well I will see you next semester. LOVE farmingdale, and I'm happy to hear that you like the nursing program there. Thanks again :woot:.

Hello!

I am new to this site and was just reading some posts regarding Farmingdale's program. (Alliegirl, I hope you've heard some good news since you posted last!). I did very well on the test and have been invited to interview for this Spring. I was curious to see what the interview was like? I've been preparing for it as you would a job interview as I have never been on an academic interview before. Are there any tips or pointers that you may have?

Thanks! Hope to see you guys there!

Hey, since then I've gone on the interview and I'm awaiting an answer from admissions. I would definitely prepare for it like a job interview but you've made it this far so you got this. :nurse: Best of luck to you and I hope we both meet each other next semester.

Hi guys.

How long does it take after the interview that you get the letter of acceptance?

Do you know if FSC gives a regular BS degree or BSN degree?

Hey guys, they actually just started interviews with their 2013 applicant pools, so I can't help you out there, never had an interview! I was accepted on my PAX score and generic application. And Caffelatte, the school offers a BS in Nursing, which essentially is no different than a BSN, it just has to do with how the school is structured. Stony Brook and Farmingdale alike graduate their students with a a Bachelor of Science with a Major in Nursing. But to answer your question, BS with a Major in Nursing.
