NLN exit exam as a final exam?

Please help! I am in my final semester as a nursing student :yeah: (YAY!!) and have been told that our final exam is given by NLN.... not much has been said about what to expect.... We were only told to focus on our weak areas as determined by our ATI predictor exam. Any words of wisdom??? PS I've also tried doing searches etc... to no avail.

We took a NLN exam just as diagnostic though, and it wasn't bad at all. We have to take HESI as our exit exam.

We are taking two NLN exams a semester now. We took Nursing Care of Adult 1 and Nursing Care of Adult 2. Based on what percentage we scored in relation to how other 1300 people in the nation who took the exam did we got a certain number of points awarded. I did not study for either exam because the tests were administered in the middle of the semester when I was studying for our other tests. I think its the kind of test that you really can't cram for to do well. If I were you, I would just review concepts that you found difficult over the last four semesters.

I really hope that this isn't too huge a part of your grade. Not to freak you out but some people in my program did really poorly on these exams (even though they do well in class exams) others did really well. I left both exams feeling like I got every question wrong but I ended up doing really well on both.

Another thing: I think the exams are around 125 questions but 25 are test questions that do not count.

I wish I could offer you more advice but seeing that I did not study for these exams and I don't even know what specific NLN exam you are taking (I think they have a bunch) I can't be of much assistance.

Based on what you have told me, where you take the NLN to see where you stand, we take the ATIs... I'm guessing they're pretty similar. I do well on those. I've been studying my Saunders NCLEX review as well as the ATI, which I'm hoping is good enough. It does scare me a little bit on what you said about even those who generally do well, didn't do so well. I kinda feel like I know in the back of my mind I'll do well, but you never know until that grade is posted!!! I think last year out of 75 people on 3 failed the semester.... those are pretty good odds. I can get a 65 on this final and still pass the semester, because this final is 25% of our final grade and you need a 78 to pass. I will just study, focus, pray!

I took the NLN at Miami Dade College, that was my entrance exam.Which one are you talking about the

If you are doing well on the ATIs, I bet you'll do well on the NLN too. I was going to mention to study the Saunders book too but I wasn't sure if you were familiar with it and I didn't want to stress you out to think, "omg, I need to buy this book and learn everything in it by my final..." :) Saunders + studying the ATIs sounds like the best plan to me. This is great prep for the NCLEX too.

I need a 67 on my final this week. I'll pray for Ds for us both! ;) How about Cs to be safe?

I took the entrance exam two years ago and surprisingly scored a 96%... I was shocked and relieved! This is the RN... (have seen it called comprehensive and/or exit exam)

NLN is one of several different 'brands' of exit exams that are supposed to be able to predict how prepared you are to take the NCLEX. HESI is another commonly used exit exam. Many nursing schools have started using these kinds of exit exams as a graduation requirement or as part of the final grade.

Basically, I think the best way to study for them is by learning and retaining nursing knowledge through your whole program, and also doing plenty of practice NCLEX questions from review books. As someone else said, it's definitely not the kind of test you can cram for, but on the other hand you're probably more prepared than you think!
