It depends. I lived in Monmouth County and commuted to NYC. I make about $12/hr more at a unionized hospital than I would have in NJ.
You do need to figure in income tax in both NJ/NYC, as well as commutation and time. I ended up moving to Manhattan to save on both.
New grads at New York Presbyterian (just across the GWB) start at 71k as of this year, plus diffs, etc.
Yes..... they typically get overloaded with new grads in January and June. Otherwise, the PICU and NICU are always hiring new grads it seems. I had to take a meds test after getting hired. Obviously they prefer BSNs, but do hire ADNs. They never asked me about my GPA. All they asked for was my degree certificate.
just fyi...i dont know about the NICU, but NYP doesnt hire new grads for their PICUs unless you go through their internship program, which hires once a year (aug) and is pretty competitive.
NICU i think does hire new grads...not sure though. a friend of mine works a hackensack univ med ctr, and the pay is comparable to NYPs.
EDIT: all my info is for the children's hospital. i have no idea what they do on the adult side :)

Anyone know the range for salary for new grads. for NYC and NJ (middlsex county in particular)? And is it worth working in NYC?
