Hello all,
I recently applied for a NJ compact license. I had a few questions. First of all, for the background check, does the board email instructions on the fingerprinting/background check after submitting the application, or is that something I need to do myself and upload the results for? I am also curious from experience, how long it has taken people to receive their NJ compact. I called and asked the board and they said 6-8 weeks but one of my fellow nurses told me it took her 6 months to get. I start a job in a different state in mid September (more than 3 months from now) and am worried the license won’t be in on time for my start date.

If your primary state of residence is New Jersey and you hold a NJ Single-State license, then you do not need to re-fingerprint. The board will query your on-file fingerprints.
It took me approximately 3 months to receive a compact, or Multi-State license from NJ; hope that helps.
