I am a new nurse (got my license in July), and I've been in the NICU since the end of June. I started nursing orientation in early August so I was mostly just shadowing my preceptor before then. I am still on orientation until the end of November. For the past two weeks, I've been taking care of vent babies. This last week we got a vented baby who was also on nitric. Can anyone tell me more about this? Or where I can get more information about this? I just want to learn more about it so I feel more comfortable with it (I like to know what I'm working with). I was also wondering what a good resource for learning about ECMO would be. We don't actually do ECMO at the hospital where I work, but I am still interested in learning about it. There is probably already a thread out there about this, but I didn't find it... so any help/thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
P.S. I just ordered the Core Curriculum text... I haven't received it yet so I don't know if it has any info about these in it.
