Hi everyone. So I am planning on applying to Nipissing SPP and Trent Compressed Nursing for the September 2017 intake. I'm taking courses this Fall 2016 to upgrade my admission's GPA and am planning on taking courses in Winter 2017 as well. When I contacted the universities about their admission requirements, both schools said that they look at courses up to and including the Fall courses before the next intake year (so Fall 2016 in this case).
I'm not sure where I got this from, but does either school possibly look at the Winter semester courses as well if you request and give proof of attendance, and give out conditional offers that way? Or should I just forget about taking Winter courses too. This is purely to upgrade GPA, since I've already graduated and completed my prerequisites. Thanks.

Hey,
I contacted Nipissing SPP in the summer about course requirements as I am also taking courses after graduating June 2016. She told me that they will only take courses up until August 2016 for the admission average (so I did courses in the summer), however she said you have until June 2017 to complete prerequisite courses (I'm doing anatomy this fall).
I hope this helps. What is your average like before taking courses this fall?
Good luck :)
That's strange. Since posting this question I did speak to someone at Nipissing and they said that courses taken this Fall will be considered in your calculation. Just not courses taken in the Winter term because the deadline to apply is February 1 and they calculate averages for consideration before Winter grades are submitted. I wonder why they told you August 2016, unless you told them you weren't planning on taking courses this Fall?
My cGPA isn't great but Nipissing looks at best 10 FCE. Without this Fall I'd have like a 76, but with it I'll have around 80 or more depending on how they convert my school's letter grades into percentage. I'm asking them about that now. I think people have been accepted with that average though, so I'm more so worried about the other requirements, since acceptances aren't as clear cut at Nipissing.

Hi, I'm currently a Trent student and I know Trent continues to look at applications after the winter semester, at least for internal applicants
Thanks for the info! I did eventually speak to Trent as well and they did say they only look at grades up to and including the Fall semester though.
