Hey everyone,
I just needed to let this out. I am currently going through the endorsement process in Georgia. My application was processed June 3 and I am still waiting for 2 things: my transcript (which I sent 3 weeks ago) and a name check to be posted to my application ( this is the 3rd week). It is frustrating because there is a job waiting for me. I was suppose to start next week, but now my start date will have to be postpone. I called Cogent, GBI, GA BON trying to get a status update for my name search, but I was given the "I'm sorry you are going have to wait a little longer" line. At least the Cogent systems gave me a time frame of 3 weeks. I'm hoping what they say is true. I am worried because I hope that this name search thing won't take more than 3 months because I will surely lose my job.
I'm just kind of in a questioning mode right now...thinking why didn't I look up better ways to make my fingers have more natural oil so I would not have to go through this darn name search and wondering why can't the GA BON use the darn electronic process to expedite everything...oh well.
I'm done venting, thank you for reading.

Some individuals do have a difficult time obtaining criminal background checks from the fingerprinting process. Unfortunately, the law enforcement agencies (FBI and GBI) require applicants to have two rejects from one agency before they will allow the Board to conduct a name search. Once the Board is allowed to initiate the name search process it typically takes anywhere from three to eight weeks for the results to be returned to the Board.
The Georgia Board of Nursing does utilize an electronic fingerprint process for applicants who wish to have their prints scanned in the State of Georgia. At this time, the vendor selected by the GBI (COGENT Systems) does not provide a method for out of state applicants to have their fingerprints scanned--they must submit paper cards.

My process took exactly 1 month. A lady from the GBON emailed 2 weeks after my application was processed and stated she had not received my transcript. I know it was sent so I aksed the lady at my school to resend it.
thank you all for your responses. I'm hoping this will be all resolved soon.
So finally on August 3, this issued me my license. It took about 5 weeks for the name search to finished and sent to GA BON. I literally called the BON everyday to make sure everything was going well since they also misplaced my transcript too. I'm just glad this is all over and I can finally start working.

Hi Springybaby, I am going through the same nightmare! My license has not yet been issued to me and I'm on week 5. I have been out of work for 2 months and I have bills to pay! I hope my license is issued to me very soon! I'm so stressed out! I'm hoping to get a job at Northside Hospital.
hopefully it comes soon for you too. x fingers crossed x for you :)
Most applicants are able to receive criminal history results simply by having their fingerprints scanned electronically or by sending fingerprint cards directly to COGENT Systems as instructed on the website of the Georgia Board of Nursing. Unfortunately, a few individuals seem to have great difficulty when trying to obtain criminal history results from the fingerprinting process. I am sure it must be very frustrating to have to wait for results to be transmitted to the Board of Nursing. O.C.G.A. 43-26-7 requires that applicants for licensure have completed both a GBI and FBI background check. The Board of Nursing has no control over the time frame under which the GBI and FBI transmit results and are required to abide by the processing times of those agencies.
Thank you so much for your responses springybaybee and jamesc. I hope I get my license soon. This really has been a nightmare for me as well.

Hey! I'm I'm the same boat...and feel like sinking!!! My name check was started on 2-28 and I'm holding my breath, without an official wait time! Any ideas how long this may take??
It took me 5 weeks but you can call the BON to see how long it will take
