NICU nursing! Question from a Newbie

Right now I am currently only taking prerequisites at a community college for nursing, and after many days of changing my mind and researching what type of nurse I want to become.

There's only a few questions & worries I have before jumping into neonatal nursing.

1.) Needles with babies! was anyone else scare of giving shots and iv's to babies since their so small???

2.) Would i have to get a different certification, or is it okay with just RN?

I'm a new grad nurse in the NICU so I don't know a whole lot but here's what I can tell you

1) it's so nerve wracking the first time you go to give a baby a needle (at least for me it was) but if you know how to give one to adults then the principals are the same for a neonate. I haven't started an IV yet so I couldn't tell you on that front.

2) I was told that I need to get my Perinatal certification as well as take STABLE and neonatal resuscitation as well as being an RN, but if you go in as a new grad they're pretty open to letting you work for a bit then getting your cert. in some places
