I'm thinking about moving from ATL to Charlotte, NC and starting in a NICU. Are any of you from the Charlotte area? Is there anyone out there who knows the area well? I'm looking for level III NICUs. PLease let me know of what you think of the hospitals there. Thanks so much!!

Well, I can't say that I know the area well; but i moved here in July. I work at Presbyterian. There is also CMC in Charlotte. CMC is the bigger one that does ECMO and everything else. A lot of nurses have quit there and come to Presby. I can't really say what is wrong with CMC but Presby is great. Everyone is nice and they seem to really have a good system going on here. I am actually going to start working PRN at CMC too soon because I am used to working OT and there isnt much here at Presby. Anyways, hope this helped!

Good luck

I worked at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center's NICU in Upstate SC and really loved it (I'd still be there if I wasn't at school) they are a Level IIIb, but send cardiacs and ECMOs to MUSC in Charleston like everyone else. I started there as a new grad, and it was an excellent place to learn. Very supportive and close-knit. It's a Magnet hospital that really treats its nurses well. It's probably 45-60 minutes south of Charlotte, depending on which suburb you live in. The NM there actually came to us from CMC. Likes it better at SRHS, so she says! If you don't get a lot of responses here, I'll move your thread to the NC forum. Gook Luck!
