Ok, so after a year of applying to every NICU position possible in 2 states and countless interviews that have lead to no offers, I finally have an interview next week at a hospital I am dying to work for. I received my WI license in April of 2009 and have applied to every NICU position at this hospital since getting my license in this state. I had even searched for the manager of the unit and sent her 2-3 emails explaining my love to work in her NICU and attaching resume and cover letter.
Now, I am desperate need of advice when it comes to this interview. I REALLY want this job!!!
In past, I had always prepared for interviews by researching the hospitals and what they have to offer their employees as well as researching their NICU. Is there anything else I can do or other advice that anyone can give me.
Thanks so much

Just sending you some support, I am a new grad trying desperately to get a NICU job as well - no offers. You can do it! I would say stick with what you are doing, know about the hospital and unit, let your passion shine through. Sounds like you are doing the right thing already, any unit will be lucky to have you, i wish you so much success!

As a patient care tech and future NICU RN (I graduate in May, yippeeeeee!), I asked all the nurses on my unit the same thing as you... endlessly. The common denominator for most of their answers is: express your support of a family-centered environment! Parents play a key role in the care of their kiddos. Since the babies don't really talk back verbally, you'll be interacting with/educating the parents often... especially if there are private rooms where you're seeking employment. (Same with pretty much all peds. units). If you don't want to take on the whole family, this might not be for you, but it sounds like you've done your homework! I know the feeling of wanting a position in the NICU so badly it feels like an extension of your body is missing, but just be yourself (so cliche, but so true).
GOOD LUCK TO YOU!!!!!
